Lead Service Line Inventory
On August 4, 2022, the EPA unveiled its comprehensive Guidance for Developing and Maintaining a Service Line Inventory, aimed at supporting water systems in their endeavors to establish inventories. This initiative serves a dual purpose by not only aiding water systems but also furnishing states with crucial data necessary for effective oversight and reporting to the EPA.
This guidance is pivotal in assisting water systems in meeting the Lead and Copper Rule Revisions requirement. According to this mandate, water systems are obligated to prepare and uphold an inventory of service line materials by October 16, 2024. The EPA's Lead Service Line Inventory guidance, in particular, plays a crucial role in facilitating compliance with this requirement.
At SchraGIS Solutions, we have been diligently collaborating with numerous clients to streamline the Lead Service Line Inventories. Our innovative approach involves the development of user-friendly forms to guide water customers through the survey process for each water entity. Leveraging water billing exports, we establish a seamless connection to GPS-tagged features in the field, aligning them with the Inventory Template spreadsheet meticulously crafted by the EPA. This streamlined process ensures efficient and accurate completion of the inventory, making compliance with regulations a smoother experience for all stakeholders.
